_{The air conditioner breathed, sending faint shivers across her spine. She was cold, but could not bring herself to shift the direction of the breeze away from her bare legs. She gazed across the car she was in intensely, trying to remember every detail of the vehicle (and her night).

“So where are we going?” his voice sliced through the slightly awkward silence and sent her senses alert. She jolted towards her handbag and lifted the portable navigator she had brought with her.

“I’ll type in the address of the venue in here, and we can just follow the directions.” she said rather casually, as she spread her fingerprints across the touch screen. He replied with a smile and focused on his driving.

His right foot rammed the pedal, and the car roared. The sound of the engine’s laughter sent her heart in a race, and she felt an adrenaline rush circulate through her for no profound reason.

Her lower back sank into the passenger seat and she tried to relax, as if she did this often. Little did he know she rarely accepted lifts from beginner drivers on her way to a concert. But she had that sense of trust in him, although she has never seen him drive, his word was enough. And she felt safe.

“Let’s turn it up, please.” He said, with a goofy tone. She understood perfectly, and rummaged through her handbag for her old, ratted Ipod.

She put it on shuffle and connected it to the car’s stereo system and smiled as the notes began to fly. She opened the window and felt the rush of air against her face as he turned up the music. At that very moment, all the care in the world uplifted from her body and she felt free.

She gazed back at her designated driver and their eyes froze for a moment before they mimicked each other with their off-tune voices to the lyrics of their favourite song.}
